Over Her Dead Body
by Britney King

.

A widow, a grave, and a husband who was supposed to be in it.

Emma Calloway has been a widow for ten years. She has the grave to prove it. She has the life to prove it, too—the career, the house, the hard-won peace of a woman who rebuilt everything around an absence.

So when she misses her flight and turns around to find her dead husband very much alive and buying coffee at the neighboring gate, Emma does what any calm, reasonable woman would do.

She gets on his flight.

Emma is excellent at reading people. It’s what makes her one of the most respected auctioneers in the business. She walks into rooms full of strangers and beautiful things, figures out what everyone is really worth, and rarely gets it wrong.

But Reid isn’t just not dead. He’s living under another name, running from something dangerous, and moving through a world Emma thought belonged to her.

The lies he left behind are nothing compared to the life he’s been living without her.

And the kind of trouble he’s in does not appreciate a very composed, very angry widow asking questions.

Unfortunately for everyone involved, Emma has never been very good at letting things go.

Favorite Quotes:

I would welcome an argument. An objection I could pick apart. Even an insult would give me something to work with. Instead, he watches me with the patience of someone who has nowhere else to be.

I sit for a moment after he goes. Then the day continues, as days do, with an insulting lack of interest in what has just happened.

I look like a doll a child got tired of playing with halfway through an experiment.

Judgment has had an unfortunate week.

My Review:

Another keenly honed and tightly written thriller from the crafty and agile pen of Britney King. I struggled to put my Kindle down, and couldn’t seem to loosen the death grip I had on my beloved ereader until an exasperated family member was nearing an epic-level tantrum. There were several tense and brain-twisting story elements pulling my thoughts in various directions until they finally came together into a complete and clever work of art. The gal has mad skills and enviable writing chops.

About the Author

Britney King lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, children, two dogs, one ridiculous cat, and a partridge in a pear tree.

When she’s not wrangling the things mentioned above, she writes psychological, domestic, and romantic thrillers set in suburbia.
Without a doubt, connecting with readers is the best part of this gig. You can find Britney online here:
