Favorite Quotes:
“I’ve had three knee replacements,” Mylene says with a sniff. West mouths three? and glances down like he’s checking for spare limbs.
Honestly, a shirtless Asher could bring about world peace. We’d all be too busy ogling to argue.
…she mutters under her breath, “if he’s not home in the next five minutes I’m going to cut his balls off and tell his associates they’re a new delicacy.”
That’s so stupidly Fitzgerald. You idiots always do this. You clam up the moment things get hard, like your vocal chords have unionized.
She looks at me as the engine growls to life. “Let’s go educate our men on what happens when you try to outmaneuver women with a vat full of coffee and a grudge.” We peel out of the lot. Fueled by caffeine, fury, and just enough heartbreak to make it dangerous.
It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this content. Maybe I never have, I don’t know. All I do know is that being with this woman feels like coming home and being on vacation at the same time.
My Review:
I am loving this series. Ms. Elks never disappoints, as her books are well-honed and smoothly written, with my favorite dual point of view, and laced together with giggle-snort-worthy and cleverly amusing wit. And as a bonus, there are Kindle-melting sensual scenes that had me gasping and grabbing for libation to stave off dehydration. I adore these characters and am eaten up with curiosity to learn the cause of the forty-year feud between the senior citizen twin sisters.
Carrie Elks writes contemporary romance with a sizzling edge. Her first book, Fix You, has been translated into eight languages and made a surprise appearance on Big Brother in Brazil. Luckily for her, it wasn’t voted out. Carrie lives with her husband, two lovely children, and a larger-than-life black pug called Plato. When she isn’t writing or reading, she can be found baking, drinking an occasional (!) glass of wine, or chatting on social media.
