For This Week:

REWIND: Top Ten Words/Topics That Make Me NOT Pick Up A Book
(Pick from previous topics that you want to do again or may have missed.)

#10: Poetry
I would LOVE to be into poetry, but I’m just not. I tried reading some and even writing my own, but I just don’t feel it.

#9: “The next _____!”
Ooh, I hate when it says that on the book! Complete turn off. It doesn’t matter how much I love the cover or the author or whoever recommended it to me, as soon as I see this phrase, I walk away.

#8: M/M romance
I’m just not into it. I know some who enjoy reading m/m romance (hint: my mom’s other daughter) even though she’s as straight as they come. Some f/f romance I don’t mind and actually quite enjoy from time to time, but m/m romance just doesn’t sound appealing to me.

#7: Horror
I love watching horror movies, but not so much reading them. The scary parts don’t work that well without all the theatrics, sound effects, and visual effects found in movies. It’s just not the same as movies. On a side note, I judge how scary and how good a horror movie is depending on how many days I get nightmares from it.

#6: Aliens
Not interested. Actually…that’s a lie. I read The Host and loved it, but that might be the only book I read about aliens (at least for a long time).

#5: Werewolf
I’m a cat person. Enough said.

#4: Animal-themed
I’m not an animal-hater, I swear. I just don’t enjoy reading books about animals or pets (even if it’s about a cat). I just don’t feel any connection – it doesn’t make me cry, laugh, or anything.

#3: Sports
Not a huge fan of sports. I don’t even follow the Olympics or any other sport event and games.

#2: Religion-themed
Books with Christian or God themes aren’t really my genre. I know they might be inspiring to a lot of people but I just don’t find them interesting at all. I love mythologies, legends, fairy tales, and lores, but just not religion-themed books like Christian, Catholic, Buddhism, Islam, Muslim, etc.

#1: Pathetic Suicide Attempts
What I hate the most are pathetic suicide attempts! I’m not in any way supporting or even encouraging suicide (I personally think it’s the most selfish thing a person can do), but just the fact that there are people who attempts suicide as a way to gain attention is just plain pathetic. I mean, if you really want to die, then f**king jump off a 50-storey building or get a gun and shoot yourself in the head. If you can’t then suck it up and move on.

For The Readers: Anything on my list that are on your list as well? What are some words/topics/phrases that makes you NOT pick up a book? Which REWIND topic did you choose for your Top Ten Tuesday? Post the link to your own Top Ten Tuesday for this week or just share your thought below.

Oh, I used to be the same with Horror, but then last year I challenged myself to read some and I actually loved it!

Was going to recommend the ‘Warrior Cats’ series, because cats, but never mind :3 I must admit that I agree with some of them, e.g. sports-themed. I just don’t really enjoy sports, I can’t really relate to the sporty characters.

Ha ha! I adore cats and everything and even spend hours watching cute videos on Youtube, but I just can’t get into books that are like that.

Interesting topic choice. I can agree with most of these. But I have to say that I do really love werewolves!

    Here’s my Tuesday post

    Have a GREAT day!

I’ve read the first two books of Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong and I didn’t quite like the werewolves as much as I liked the witches and such. Oh well. 🙂

Nice list! I agree with all of these–except I do love reading about sports! I’d add time-travel into the mix–I just don’t get time travel books. Nothing against them or those who read them–they’re just not my taste!

Thanks! 🙂 It just shows how different people have different tastes. There are times when I like time travel, and there are times that I don’t, but I generally don’t mind them. As for sports, I just can’t get into it for some reason.

Great pick. I hate when a book proclaims it’s The Next… something and it puts me off picking it up too. I don’t read religion-themed books either and don’t pick those up at all. Nice list 🙂 My TTT.

Ick, the comparing thing drives me nuts. When I first read The Hunger Games, I found this list of books “just like and better than The Hunger Games!” so of course I dutifully worked my way through it. BIG MISTAKE. Gosh, they were such bad comparisons and really turned me quite of dystopian for a while. I also don’t like religion in books and poetry. Just not my thing. My TTT!

Yeah I’ve read a few of those books that said compares to certain books I loved and guess what…Not even close!

I seriously couldn’t agree more with all of your points! It feels as if you took the words right out of my head and put them on your blog! I am a cat person myself, actually own two of them. Religion, horror, suicide etc.? Just keep them away from me!
I didn’t read the Host, but I really enjoyed Armentrout’s Lux series. It is about aliens and even though a bit childish at some points, I really did love it and can’t wait for the final book to be released this summer!
