Getting involved with her would be a huge mistake, though it just might turn out to be the sweetest mistake of his life.
Beautiful Ruin -Book 1
“It’s shocking, I know. A Winslow without money. It’s like a Kardashian without a TV camera.”
“He’d seen the sunrise over Jerusalem, touched the walls of the Hagia Sophia, and smelled the air inside the Sistine Chapel, but none of it compared to Mina in that moment of trust and freedom. She broke his heart.”
“He’d had his lifetime full of being expendable to people, and just once, he wanted someone to want him to stay.”
“Her heart contracted. That he worried so made her feel cherished. Loved. The fear vanished like the stars at dawn.”
Sweetest Mistake – Book 2
“I wasn’t complaining. A quiet woman is like a mild winter. Both a rare and welcome relief.”
“It was the most special kiss of her life. The most special, intimate moment with a man that she’d ever experienced. So naturally, he had to ruin it. He pulled back. Smug satisfaction chased the heat from his face. ‘So, how do you like me now?’”
“He was a Harley Davidson when she needed training wheels, but she wouldn’t let her ignorance rob her of the chance to ride such a supreme vehicle.”
“You’re a piranha… A small fish with a big bite.”
The review for these books could be complete with once sentence. Beautiful Ruin and Sweetest Mistake were beautifully written. I could stop right there but I have a great need and desire to expound and tell you more – these marvelous books wrecked me. In addition to the sweet and sensual love stories – that both couples vowed would not happen as neither pair wanted to fall in love – the stories were embedded with damaging family histories long-repressed secrets, and the personal pain and traumas for both characters, not all of which were immediately forthcoming – and I desperately wanted to know what they were. The layers were slowly peeled back as this crafty writer played it close to the vest. I was fascinated, frustrated, transfixed, exasperated, enthralled, and on edge. Both storylines were intriguing, sensual, heart rendering, and highly addictive. The emotive writing stung my eyes, burned my throat, and tightened my chest. I had to stop reading to sob more than once. The endings were satisfying and all I hoped for. I adored these books and want to read everything this author ever writes. Being that there are several more Nolan brothers yet to be tapped, I am anxious to see who will be the focus of the next installment. More, please!
