This is a guest post written by my dear sister, Megpie, born on the same day as I am…only three years later. Megpie is a closet blogger who really doesn’t know jack about blogging. She tries but never really had any motivation whatsoever until her sister urged, or rather forced, her to finally take that one teeny tiny step. And VIOLA! She managed to answer thirty blog interview questions in exactly two weeks! All the credit goes to her incredibly tenacious sister. And yes she’s rather fond of addressing herself in the third person when making a self-introduction. Who can introduce you better than yourself? So without further ado, and if my sister doesn’t edit all this rubbish, I would like to introduce MYSELF!
My Unofficial Twin
Tell us something about yourself and you blogging background.
AGE: Just turned twenty one.
HEIGHT: Five foot and two inches. I’d like to think it’s five foot and five inches but only when I can convince myself.
WEIGHT: Hundred and twenty pounds of fat! *silence* FINE! Hundred and twenty-five! Can’t anybody lie anymore?! My goodness!
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: In a very complicated relationship with my cat. In an open relationship with books. Married to my KOBO e-reader. Filing a divorce. My FLABBY fat needs to go. Didn’t work out. Oh and yes, I’m in a blissful love-hate relationship with my man! 😉
BANK ACCOUNT: Let’s just say I accept donations.
BOOKS WRITTEN: Nil. But I have written so many FIRST CHAPTERS. Ha!
INCURABLE HABITS: Chewing the inside of my cheeks, biting my lips and making my fingers crack. Dreadful, I know.
PREFFERED FOOD WHEN DEPRESSED: Anything Japanese. Sushi or Beef Teriyaki is enough. Usually.
PREFFERED FOOD NO MATTER WHAT I FEEL: French Fries! You can probably see them on my thighs, hanging out. 😀
Anything else you want to know, well, I’ll leave it to your imagination. I’ve got exactly seventy-one minutes before my sister call me and DEMAND my answers to her blog questions. Trust me; you don’t want to deal with an angry sister so early in the morning. Nerves can’t take it!
Do you recall how your interest in blogging started?
Hmm. I discovered the world of blogging after I watched the film, Julie & Julia, starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep. I vowed to myself that I would document my cooking prowess and share it with the world as did Julie in the movie; but alas, I’m now featured on this booming blog to boast about my non-existent writing experience and NOT my cooking skills… Which is pretty much on the same level as my writing ability.
Could you share with us something you’ve learned since you started your blog?
Oh! I’ve got tons!
- NEVER ever postpone your answers to BLOG interview questions, ESPECIALLY when it’s your sister’s blog.
- It takes a good thirty minutes to answer one question of this interview.
- Dictionary apps tend to crash when one overuses it trying to sound smart on a public article.
- Older sisters are really sweet but are equally persistent if you failed lesson number one.
- Most important lesson in blogging is just be YOURSELF and write!
Didn’t I tell you? TONS! 😉
What is that one thing you wish somebody told you when you were just starting your blog?
Probably that it’s quite hard but challenging, much like teaching a cat to play fetch. I’ve succeeded with the latter, not so much with the former.
Tell us something about your reading habits.
I prepare my jasmine tea, pick a novel from my collection, set my kitten on my lap and then sit on my comfy chair facing the sunset by the beach…
Sounds too good to be true? That’s because it is.
I usually just waste two hours trying to choose a book to read, another fifteen minutes to decide if it’s worth buying, let my cat play around and destroy my place, and then read the day away on my couch.
How do you go about reviewing a book?
Sad to say I’m picky when giving out reviews. I’m in the process of changing that. Baby steps, people. I only give reviews to books that leave an impression on me, be it good or bad. And if my emotions can supress itself, I read it twice before giving a final review.
Name a book that completely surprised you (be it positive or negative).
I’m not going to rave about it, if you’re curious then just click on my goodreads link and read it. If you know about it, contact me! I would love to chat!
What are you favorite book(s) and why?
How about your favorite author(s)?
George R.R. Martin
What genre do you mostly read?
Historical Fiction is winning by a hair.
Do you have an all-time favorite character from any of the books you’ve read?
I adore Jessica Trent in Lord of Scoundrels! Femme fatale. Witty and unpredictable.
How about your least favorite and what makes them less appealing to you?
It would probably be Charlaina or Charlie in The Pledge by Kimberly Derting. Least favorite is not the right word. It’s maybe more like a Meh sort of feeling; a bitter after taste, if you will. She lacks determination, relies on her younger sister rather than herself and has everything handed to her in a silver platter.
Aside from reading, writing, and/or blogging, what are you other hobbies?
Daydream. I do that a lot. Kind of makes you think I’m a ninny. No matter. *shrug*
It’s automatic anyway, can’t control it.
Watch movies, TV series, and yes, Japanese animation.
Try to sing in time with the strumming of my guitar and fail so I just sing. 😀
What are your thoughts on movie/TV series adaptations? Are there any ones you like/dislike?
Bones is the best TV series ever broadcasted aside from Sherlock Holmes, of course.
As for movies, I’d say Sherlock Holmes and Avatar are my favourite! Always gets my writing gears going. My personal brand of grease. – It is from Twilight. It has lost its originality but it haunts me. I need to expel it!
List a dream cast of one of your favorite books that you’d like to see on a movie/TV series.
For the life of me, I can’t seem to think or imagine any actors playing the characters of the books I’ve read. In my mind I’ve created a face for each of the characters and it doesn’t feel right to me that I suddenly change it to that of an actor’s. Apologies! I’ll pass up on this one. WHEN, not IF, I finish writing my book, I’ll gladly come back and give you my answer.
Would you rather…?
Go deaf or go blind (if you really have to choose between the two)?
I would rather go blind. I’m curious to know what kind of things I’d picture if I just have my other senses to go by on. It will be hard but I think of it as entering into a new world where I’ll be able to SEE everything in a different way.
Read an e-book or a solid book?
Tough one! E-books are definitely practical and easier to manage but the smell and feel of an actual book is hard to forget. Solid book for me!
Go skydiving or bungee jumping?
Skydive! You can see farther than just bungee jumping. If I would gamble my very life on an activity, I would want to be able to feel more, see more and not risk the possibility of being a vegetable. I’d rather die. But that’s just when things go awry so hopefully it won’t.
Text or call?
Call! I want to hear how the other person delivers his sentences. It may be the same sentence or words but it all depends on how one says it.
Go back in time or go way into the future?
Ha! Go back in time. I didn’t even break a sweat. I love history and events that has already happened. How can I begin to imagine a future when I have so many unanswered questions about the past?
Get a dream vacation for two weeks or spend five days with anyone you want in your hometown?
Dream vacation for two weeks! God knows I need one! Although I don’t think two weeks is enough. So many places, so little time. Maybe an extension? 😀
Have a cat or a dog for a pet?
CAT! And it’s driving me insane! I love her to death but sometimes you just want to *beeeeep*. Much as I hate the infernal feline, she’s my baby.
Be fluent in all languages or a master of every musical instrument?
Give me something harder here. Of course be fluent in all languages! I’m actually starting now! I’ve got lessons on Japanese starting soon. Wish me luck! It would be heaven if I could read in all languages! No need to wait for the translated version!
Be underdressed or overdressed?
I’d say underdressed. I would rather be comfortable wearing my jeans and sweatshirt in a formal party than endure twenty minutes of high heels in a beach party. OUCH.
Now that I think about it no matter what party, high heels are torture. Damn them sparkly demonic footwear!
Have a rewind button or a pause button in your life?
Rewind button please! I can relive any happy moment and have a chance to change any decision.
Happy moment being when I finally meet Michael Buble. *squeal*
See the beach or the mountains from your backyard?
Beach. Smell of the sea, feel of the sand, hot surfers with six-pack abs, and the sunset!
Go swimming at night or during the day?
I’d say day if it was a lake, ocean or sea. I might do night swimming on a swimming pool… With someone. Afraid of the dark, man.
Have an ordinary home at an extraordinary place or an extraordinary home at an ordinary place?
Ordinary home at an EXTRAORDINARY place, or places if I may. I’d live in the City of Ember or even on Pandora where the Na’vi people reside.
Find true love or one billion dollars?
I’m a devout romantic so true love for me. Sorry big sis! You can go for the billion dollars then you can SHARE your wealth with me.
Talk like Yoda or breathe like Darth Vader?
Talk like Yoda! It’s already making me hard to breathe imagining Darth Vader. Besides, I could really do without the black outfit.
I’d like to thank MegPie for taking the time (with my constant nagging) to do a guest post here on Books and Bindings. Make sure you check her out on Facebook and Goodreads…and don’t forget to follow!
