For today’s character interview, we are joined by Fenn from Candace Knoebel’s book, Embracing the Flames. Welcome to Books and Bindings!
Fenn: …Thanks for having me! I was actually supposed to be training with Rory and Astral so this interview is doing me a favor. Rory’s in one of her moods…
Books and Bindings: To start things off, can you tell us more about the book?
Fenn: … The book. *chuckles* Rory’s typically better at this stuff. Umm… it is set in the other realm, the magical one where we were both born, and it picks up where Rory’s story left off. She is going through a lot right now. *Leans forward and whispers* Actually, she is having issues with her dragon side. She seems to be taken over by the dragon spirit and this somehow hinders her decision making abilities.
Books and Bindings: Being a paranormal story, what makes it different from any of the other?
Fenn: …First off, Rory is a small-framed human girl who shifts into a human-like dragon. That in itself is unique. And pretty hot. Also, I don’t know if you’re into epic fantasy or not, but I swear, what’s in our magical realm takes you there. Your mind will be blown when you see the places we go and the races…not people or skin color, but actual races we meet. Necromancers…Priests…craziness.
Books and Bindings: Can you tell us more about yourself? Where do you fit in the story?
Fenn: … How do I fit in? *snorts* Psh, I am the one to swoon over! Hot, funny, sweet, strong…what more could you ask for in a dude? *Laughs* Just kidding. I mean, I am all of those things, but if I am being serious, which by the look of your face you want me to be, I play a very important role. There are some things I discover about myself in this novel that really moves my role from just being Rory’s boyfriend to being Rory’s only way out. I know, doesn’t make much sense now. You’ll have to read to find out. *Winks*
Books and Bindings: How was it like growing up in the foster home with Rory?
Fenn: …Interesting to say the least. It was never like a brother/sister thing, but more of a lost-soul-needing-support thing. We both knew we were different from day one and we were both pulled to one another. When we were little, of course it was never a romantic thing, but as we grew up and moved out, I don’t know, we started to really see each other.
Books and Bindings: How would you describe your relationship with Rory?
Fenn: …Awesome, though she may beg to differ. But that’s what I love about her. She is honest with her feelings and not afraid to put up a fight. She’s kickass. Now that we’ve moved past the confusion of if we should be together or not, we can finally focus on each other and what we really want. Well, in between fighting evil of course.
Books and Bindings: How do you think Candace came up with the idea of you as a character?
Fenn: …That’s an odd question. It’s almost as if you are referring to the fact that I am fictional. *laughs* I honestly have no idea. She’s in my head, not vice-versa.
Books and Bindings: What do you think about Zane?
Fenn: …*Sighs heavily* Well…he’s good guy. I hate that he has a thing for Rory and that she actually likes him. I sometimes worry. But I trust them both. I don’t think it would ever go anywhere between them. I know how much Rory loves me. She’s my soul mate. I would have to crush him if he tried anything though.
Books and Bindings: Without giving any away, how do you see yourself in the future? Do you know if you will still be in From the Embers?
Fenn: …Well I definitely hope so! I don’t see myself as dying. I mean, come on, this is me we’re talking about. I’m too important to die. Right, Candace?
Books and Bindings: If they make a movie about the book, who would you want to play as you and why?
Fenn: …I’ve heard rumors that the author would like Logan Lerman, but I honestly think Chris Evans is best for the role. Someone super buff and good looking.
Books and Bindings: Is there anything else you’d like your readers to know? Do you have a message for them before they read about your life?
Fenn: …Try not to fall too in love with me…joking, again. Just enjoy it.
Well, that about wraps it up. Thank you so much, Fenn, for stopping by.
Fenn: … What? It’s over? That was fast. Looks like I will be training some more after all…
