Synopsis:
Protecting the Girl Next Door was originally published as Forever Bound. It has since been expanded, revised, and re-edited.

I like women, and I like adventure. I always have. The last thing I want to do is settle down with the girl next door and live a boring, domestic life. So I have no idea what I’m doing here, posing as a first-grade teacher.

It’s the most ridiculous undercover security job I’ve ever had to work. Corralling a bunch of six-year-olds while I try to do my job and keep anyone from knowing how clueless I really am. I manage to fool everyone. Except Kristin.

She’s an actual teacher, and she’s determined to find out what I’m really doing here. She doesn’t trust me, and her daughter doesn’t like me. And the worst part is that I’m starting to like them. A lot.

So now, instead of being the tough guy, I’m stuck with rowdy children and Christmas pageants and falling in love. It’s not the way I thought I’d spend Christmas.

No matter how hard I try, a wedding reminds me of a funeral. I knew I was here for a wedding, but the tone right now made me think… funeral.

My Review:

Protecting The Girl Next Door was my favorite of The Protectors series so far and provided a delightfully entertaining, amusing, and fun read. It was deftly written from my favorite dual POV and featured two oddly matched protagonists, who didn’t initially care for each other, at all. Kristin was a twenty-eight-year-old widow who had lost her Navy Seal husband nearly two years prior in an accident. She had always been a “good girl” and had married her high school sweetheart. Declan bragged he was never getting married and stopped dating good girls in high school after he noticed they never gave it up. The very idea of love, weddings, marriage, children, etc., caused him to shudder. So Declan was beyond miserable when protection assignment turned out to be a six-year-old girl and required him to go undercover as a substitute first-grade teacher. He was definitely out of his comfort zone and being ratted out by one of his new students, a serious and academically precocious six-year-old who complained she wasn’t learning anything in his class.   I enjoyed this humorous, quick, and easy to follow tale from start to finish.

Synopsis:

Protecting the Movie Star was originally published as Home Bound. It has since been expanded, revised, and re-edited.

The story of my life isn’t pretty. I come from the wrong side of the tracks. I’ve been a criminal. I’ve been homeless. I almost killed my father, and I might be responsible for the death of my best friend.
I should not be wanting Evangeline.

Her life story is the stuff of dreams. She’s America’s sweetheart – beautiful, talented, and famous – and she doesn’t want anything to do with me. I’ll protect her from a stalker since it’s my job, but that’s all I’m allowed. No touching, no lusting, no falling in love. I’m all wrong for her, and she’s completely off-limits.

But I’ve never been good about following the rules.

Favorite Quotes:

My life had been nothing but a never-ending list of shit I didn’t want to do. Granted, I ended up doing most of them, but this? This was avoidable.

It was a one-time thing. Okay, technically, it was a three-time thing, but that was it. No more… Okay, so it was going to be a four-time thing. And I was completely okay with it.

We’ve traveled a long road together— not all of it was good— but I know that I am a better man for just knowing all of you.

My Review:

Protecting The Movie Star was the final book in the Protector series and tied up the last and most prickly member of the Protectors team. Cole was a cranky asshat with a chip on his shoulder. Evangeline was his movie star client, who found him to be surly and “vulgar,” while he had resented her before they had even met due to assuming she had led an easy life of indulgence and privilege.

The storyline was rife with conflict and tension as the two protagonists needled and riled each other; which alternated with breath-stealing sensual scenes, oh my, Cole did seem to have some redeeming qualities… But the beauty had a stalker, one that was increasingly frustrating to Cole, as he couldn’t seem to nail down the access. Poor Evangeline, I thought Cole was going to require medical assistance to have his cranium removed from his colon as it seemed to be really wedged up there… The resolution seemed rather rushed yet was ultimately satisfying, and the Epilogue brought back all the previous characters to tie up the series with a nice glossy bow.

Twelve years ago, I gave up the love of my life because my family made the relationship impossible. Now that Ali has come back to me, I’m not going to give her up again.

It’s been years since I’ve seen her, and I know she’s hated me all this time. I never expected to see her working as an event planner for one of my father’s business partners. But here she is, always snooping around and getting into trouble. I’m supposed to be providing security, but I can’t stop thinking about her.

She’s up to something, and it might put her in danger. She sees me as the enemy now. Maybe I am, but I’m not going to lose her again. I might be hired to protect the man she’s working against, but my heart only wants to protect her.

These books look really good, even though I am confused about why anyone would need to protect the girl next door?
