PROMISES (Book 2, The Unspoken Love Series)
Don’t make promises you can’t keep Lincoln. Promises are worse than lies. You don’t just make me believe them, you make me hope for them.
With the way she is drinking, I can only imagine that tonight will not end well. Either she will pass out, or I will be holding her hair while she sings to the porcelain gods.
I hate that you hold my love in your hand. All those words you told me, the promises you made.
Nothing against the quality of the writing or story – but due to my personal tastes – I struggled while reading this book as I am no fan of angst and Lincoln and Morgan’s story was 80% angst and turmoil. The characters were not the adorable and endearing couple I had found and enjoyed in book one with Jamie and Camryn, nor were they approachable or even likable much of the time. Both were stubborn, entrenched, and unyielding in their disagreement, although Morgan took it further into an icy bitterness. Written from a dual POV, Ms. Davenport tortured these poor characters with inner musing of conflict, melodrama, and discontent. However, when she periodically allowed them to connect – holy moly – atomically steamy!
