Blurb

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men’s locker room.

It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster.

The famed quarterback decided to bare all.

And by all, I don’t mean he told me any of his secrets.

No.  The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel, just as I asked the first question.  On camera.

The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby—screwing with me.

When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me, to wanting to screw me.

But I don’t date players.

And it’s not because I’m one of the few women working in the world of professional football.

I’d date an athlete.

It’s the other kind of player I don’t date.

You know the type.  Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.

Brody Easton was the ultimate player.

Every woman wanted to be the one to change him.

But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for.

Turned out, I was that girl.

Simple right?

Let’s face it.  It never is.

There’s a story between once upon a time and happily ever after…

And this one is ours.

Favorite Quotes:

“Even though I’d worked eighty hours a week the last few years to get where I was, the men who worked thirty were the first ones to blame my success on my magical vagina.”

“‘You’re spooning me?  Brody Easton spoons?’… ‘Only you, baby.  But don’t be surprised if you get woken up by my fork later.’”

“I finally realized peace wasn’t about avoiding things.  It was about making the choice to live life with all its chaos around you, and in the midst of it all, having calm in your heart.  Brody Easton, the man who’d entered my life like a storm, had turned out to be my calm.  How was that for irony?”

My Review:

I must have been living under a rock, as this is my first Vi Keeland read.  I KNOW!  I could kick myself for not noticing my lapse in judgment sooner.  She has mad skills; skills that I want to spend much more time exploiting.  I found her work on The Baller to be captivating and adored her smart and clever characters.  I was quickly invested in her intriguing story and mesmerized by her humor and wit, as well as her vibrant and sexy characters.  Even the secondary characters were interesting.  While humorous, the writing was also moving and emotive and the story was tender and relevant.  She squeezed my heart, then she broke my heart, then she put me back together – just in time before despondence struck.  The majority of the story was told by a dual POV, and then a third was slipped in as a surprise, and certainly not one I was expecting.   I found myself feeling… anxious, curious, transfixed – yet more than a bit concerned for our happy couple.  Being so deeply invested is just a sign of an excellent book in my opinion.  The sensual scenes were erotic and humorous – an odd combination, but she more than rocked it.  I have greedily added all her books to my wish list and am off to make a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies…

About the Author:

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn’t change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work.  She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
