Only With You

by Lauren Layne

Love is the Biggest Gamble of All . . . Cocktail waitress Sophie Dalton doesn’t exactly have a life plan. She’s perfectly happy being everyone’s favorite party girl. But when a Las Vegas bachelorette party goes awry and an uptight businessman mistakes Sophie for a prostitute . . . well, Sophie wonders if it’s time to reevaluate her priorities. Swearing off her thigh-high boots for good, Sophie slinks back home with damaged pride-and a jackpot of a hangover. Yet what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay there. On a trip to Seattle to open a new office, Grayson Wyatt meets his latest employee-who turns out to be the same woman he recently called a hooker. Wealthy and gorgeous, Gray is a man used to getting what he wants. And it doesn’t take long to figure out that smart, sassy, sexy Sophie is everything he’s been looking for. As their late nights at the office turn into hot morning-afters, they realize their Vegas misunderstanding may lead to the real thing . . .

Favorite Quotes:

“Marnie also was a fastidious dresser, believing that jeans were strictly for gardening and the unpolished nails were for ‘street people.’”

“‘Sorry to drag you into the family business, Gray,’ Marnie said with embarrassment.  ‘It’s that we worry about our Sophie here.  Always a free spirit.  She’s spent the past few years being a barfly and giving us heart palpitations worrying about her getting shot up by some alcoholic motorcycle ruffians.’”

“All she wanted to do was head home and cry into a bubble bath.  It was an especially practical idea since she probably couldn’t afford tissues or her water bill.”

“Hard to imagine this was the same wiry frat boy who once refused to let anyone be admitted to his house party unless they could eat nachos with no hands.”

“She had no idea why Gray had agreed to it, but it could have something to do with the fact that Jenna had the personality of a Rottweiler and biceps like Jillian Michaels.   One did not mess with her master plan.”

“She was appalled to find her nipples tightening.  Luckily he couldn’t notice through the eight layers of push-up padding.  God bless Victoria and her secret.”

“Oh really, you prefer our women in tiny black lacy panties?  That’s completely new to me, since most men I’ve been with preferred faded granny panties.  This is so original of you!”

My Review:

I chuckled, smirked and snorted through this book as I read.  I love this author’s humor, writing style, and word play.  I am hooked.  This is my second time reading her work and I want to follow her around and read every word she commits to print.  I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end.  Ms. Layne’s clever descriptions and introductions of her characters is hysterically and insightfully descriptive on multiple levels.  I adore her humor and could never tire of reading her words.  I had five pages of favorite quotes saved.  Five pages!  It was painful to cull through them and decide which to use as I obviously loved them all.
