Never Be Tamed:

A Standalone Enemy-to-Lovers Romance (Impossible Love #6)

by Clare James

Goodreads

Never Be Tamed is a standalone enemies-to-lovers story about a reformed bad girl and the guy who’s supposed to stay away from her! Here’s a link to the USA Today article to provide a little more background to why I wrote this book.

Never Be Tamed is on sale for $2.99 during release week, and will be going up to $4.99

“A fun, fast, filthy ride of a novel that will make you beg for more.”

Falling for your sister’s nemesis?

Only a low-life dog would do something like that, right? And that ain’t me, not anymore. I mean here I am, trying to be a stand-up guy for once in my freaking life—I’m finally making smart decisions, helping my little sister, and getting my shit together.
For once, things are finally going my way…until Jenna shows up.

As soon as I meet her, I know she’s the enemy. I’ve heard enough to understand that she’s off limits. Banned. Forbidden. Not for me!

She’s the bad girl I have to stay away from if I want to keep my family intact. So I try. Trust me, I REALLY try. But it’s not as easy as you’d think, and surprisingly, I discover that she’s not as bad as everyone says.

Of course, she’s difficult, selfish, and a royal pain in the ass, but she’s also gorgeous, smart, kind, and…well, let’s just say I am that low-life dog. Traitor. Turncoat. And the world’s shittiest brother.

Woof. Woof.

Never Be Tamed is a hot and hilarious full-length stand-alone that can be read on its own or as part of The Impossible Love Series.

Since I’d royally screwed up my life freshman year, I’d been clear about the dog-to-guy hierarchy in my life. Dogs before dudes, and all that. I mean, guys were great at one thing, and one thing only…helping me control my hormones. But for the important things—like companionship, entertainment, and love—my heart belonged to the hounds.

And sweet baby Jesus, he was a feast for the eyes.

I’m not going to lie, I’d worn my best underwear under this get-up, totally not appropriate for self-defense activity, but perfect for this one. It probably made me look desperate, like I was hoping this would happen, but what can I say? I was.

“Do you want to see where I work?” he asked, suddenly. I tipped my face up to his and watched as his expression turn a little shy. I sensed instantly that this was a big deal. He was inviting me into his life, and that right there, was even more intimate than what just happened in an old basement gym.

His body turned me into a moron.

I planted the longest, dirtiest kiss on the woman I loved. I kissed her as if my life depended on it…because, well, it was starting to feel like it did.

My Review:

Written from my favorite dual POV, Never Be Tamed had an interesting and unique premise and provided a well-balanced and entertaining read that alternated between amusing, sensual, and angsty. I don’t recall ever reading a story that featured a mean girl as the main character, although, since we get to see what is actually behind the persona and know that Jenna is not all bad without her minions on hand, I guess she’s more of a reforming mean girl… as while she has mellowed and gained insight, she can still throw the snark. I enjoyed Michael and Jenna’s steamy and budding romance, and I especially liked that she was an animal lover and advocate. Fostering and rescuing animals is a cause near and dear to me, so I was predisposed to be her ally. Being unfamiliar with the previous stories in this series was of no consequence as this book could stand-alone, although I find my curiosity has been tripped and feel the pull to know more of the back-story. I always enjoy Clare James’ work and every time I read one of her books it sparks my greed to want everything she ever pens.

Serial books that have no connection to each other are not very much my type, but maybe someday cheer me up with some series. That the protagonist is a bad girl is a good turn of the story.
