blurb

55M years of resolve. And only one man can break it.

Fifty-five million years. In that length of time, you’d think Esther Summers could’ve found a man.

Thing is, she didn’t want to die.

But once she’s confronted with a danger that she had almost forgotten about, it will take every resource she has to keep herself from being ended. Her wits. Her powers. Her talents. Her circle of witch friends.

And one hotter-than-sin heat and air guy, Alan Hamlet. No HVAC unit on the planet could cool off the fire he lights inside her.

In all her years of survival in Earth’s dimension, Ez never factored in the desire she’d have for Alan, or the idea that any human could get that close to her. But Alan throws every switch in her sex-starved body and love-starved heart. Worse yet, every time she turns around, there he is, acting as her protector, as if that’s his job.

As if he knows.

Laid Bare, the first book in the Witch of Endor series, turns Ez’s world upside down and wrong side out. She wants Alan. But is she dying to have him?

The thoughtform sat on the table, its legs wiggling as it tried them out… To his delight, it was efficient in its movements and would be invisible to anyone who wasn’t looking for it.

My Review:

When I happened upon this story and having read some of Ms. Hall’s steamy romances before, I thought I knew what to expect.  I was so very WRONG.  There was but a minuscule amount of sex occurring in this story.  Nor was the character an actual witch, although she did belong to a present day coven.  Laid Bare is the first book of the series The Witch of Endor, and marks Deanndra Hall’s foray into the paranormal genre.  I am not much of a paranormal reader so this required me to stretch and exercise different brain cells, I will admit to struggling a bit but I found it an interesting and intriguing storyline.  Similar to Superman, the main character of Esther was dispatched to Earth from another dimension for her protection, and like Superman, she appears human but has special skills.  I was extremely envious that she does not age, but more so of her ability to “diffract” or teleport – like I Dream of Jeannie or Dumbledore.  I do not enjoy travel or traffic, so I have always desired the ability to fly or send myself somewhere else in the blink of an eye.  The story was quite creative and imaginative with all manner of different beings and issues mentioned, along with a helpful glossary of the terms found at the end.  However, just when it was coming into the romance with the sweet and sexy man she had grown attached to and their big talk was starting – the story ended with a heinous cliffhanger – arg!  I had to stamp my little foot a bit and hiss a few choice words, but I fear I am hooked.  Curses!

Interesting that the character comes from another dimension. Hmm…. Not sure I’ll read this one, but I am curious. Good review.
