Protecting her life will mean betraying her trust
Ainsley Hamilton has always been the responsible one of the family. As the oldest daughter of presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton, she’s also a potential target. For months she’s sensed someone following her. When an expedition to scout locations for a commercial takes a terrifying turn, she’s rescued by a natural-born cowboy who tempts the good girl to finally let loose.
Sawyer Nash knows just how reckless it is to fall for someone he’s gone undercover to protect. Yet masquerading as an extra on set, he starts to see beneath Ainsley’s controlled facade. And with the election—and a killer—drawing closer, Sawyer stands to lose not just his job and his life but the woman for whom he’d gladly risk both.
Bo had made it sound as if Ainsley’s ‘condition’ was a car with a faulty radiator. ‘You should get that taken care of,’ she’d said.
When I picked up this book, I did not realize it was Book #6 in a series I had never read, and while it would have been easier if I had read the previous installments – a decent amount of back-story was given so I was not completely lost. There was, however, a large cast of characters to track that carried over from the previous books. The story started with a bang – literally – a gunshot. Honor Bound had a complicated and active plot with several threads going at once in several different directions, yet they managed to intersect and weave into a cohesive scheme at the end. Buckle up for politics, jewel thieves, kidnapping, assaults, murders, stalkers, assassination attempts, terrorists, and undercover agents. The characters were unusual with the majority of them being damaged, twisted, annoying, or unlikable while the storyline held considerable tension, suspense, and unpredictability. Every character held secrets and broke rules. It was frequently clear that no one was totally trustworthy, and even at the finish, I continue to hold my doubts and find I am not fully trusting the end result.
