“She stored that particular memory and pulled it out often to reexamine. Like a scab she couldn’t leave alone.”
“Her voice sounded like silk sheets and hot summer nights. It slid through his system like a shot of premium tequila…”
“It’s like her tongue could open a wine bottle.”
“The touch of his mouth against hers was like fire and rain, hot and moist, a combustible combination.”
I did not realize this was a series when I started reading, and while I would be interested in reading the other books that preceded it, I didn’t need to in this case as this book could stand alone, and I fully appreciate that. I also did not realize how clever the book title was when I dived in, but the author’s ingenuity soon connected in my pea brain as the couple met and bonded over photography, and later events provided the element of being publicly “exposed” in a rather unpleasant manner. So being oblivious to what I was starting, and with the word “passion” in the title, I was expecting a sizzling love story… and you know what happens when you ass/u/me. However, the story was entertaining and held components across several genres with family drama, bullying, female body image issues, suicide concerns, cyber-hacking, poor contraceptives, high school mean girls, stalking, and a little suspense thrown in, all happening around a couple’s new romance. While not sizzling, there were a few steamy moments, and a quite a bit of hot water for the main characters. Although they are perfectly suited for each other, their relationship quickly hit the skids due to their own stupidity, isn’t that usually the case?
