William Jacobs was chosen—adopted at a young age and thrust into a lifestyle he knew nothing about. Emma Nichols was the girl next door . . . his atlas in the turbulent life he had to navigate.

In their small town, beliefs vary and hatred can take the forefront.

She sees things as they are: right and wrong—black or white. He looks at all abstracts of life trying to find the easiest path.

Their lives are connected in every facet. Family, school, love . . . they don’t know where one begins and the other ends, and it’s just the way they like it. Tragedy, hatred, loss, and distance threaten them, but those things won’t tear them apart.

One night, something unforgivable happens. They find themselves on the same side fighting opposite battles. She can’t erase the pain, and he can’t right his wrongs, but he’ll die trying to avenge the act of violence and make her see the truth.

My Rating:

4.5 hearts

Favorite Quotes:

“I wonder if kissing her will ever be enough. The simple gesture of our lips meeting is so new. A transcending of my soul into hers. An unspoken dialect, shared only by us.

“Life is like an atlas, but with you two, all roads lead back to each other.”

“I think all the sales people who have come in contact with her need prescription medication and a week vacation.”

“I’m like a midget at a mini-skirt convention and taking advantage of it.”

“Her bumper has been painted more times than Kim Kardashian has posted naked selfies. It’s ridiculous.”

“Silence fills the tiny room. So much is unspoken but too many things have been said all at the same time.”

My Review:

As with every other Leigh Ann Lunsford book I have ever read, a wide range of emotion was experienced and worked through. I smirked, teared up, chuckled, and gasped for breath. Her highly emotive stories are rife with angst, tension, and conflict, but there is always a deeply felt and fulfilling love story at the core. Embracing Emma brings us two headstrong friends to lovers that often found me grinding my teeth with frustration, but I was just as often smiling and cheering them on. I adored the loving and supportive parents’ relationships and could not get enough of the witty banter and humorous quips tossed back and forth. Ms. Lunsford’s trademark snarky humor and steamy sensual scenes just get better and better with each new book.

Leigh Ann Lunsford is a stay at home mom turned author. She writes Romance/New Adult and loves her happily ever after in all books and movies. She lives with her husband, son, and four dogs in Fleming Island, Florida. When she isn’t writing or reading you can find her stuck in front of really bad reality shows or watching Sons of Anarchy. Leigh Ann has a filthy mouth and a huge amount of sarcasm that knows no end. She hopes to give the voices in her head an outlet with many more novels to come.
