The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer at Crazy For Books in March 2010 and ended in December 2012. Billy at Rambling of a Coffee Addicted Writer didn’t want it to end and took over in February 2013, lucky for us. The hop starts every Friday and ends on Thursdays the following week with weekly prompts. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
For This Week:
“Do you blog for a living or for fun?”
I blog for fun. Simple as that. But I also blog for a living. No, not the kind of blogging for a living that you’re thinking about. I don’t get – and have never been – paid to do any of the things I do in my blog. It has always, is, and will always be purely for fun.
So why do I say I blog for a living then, you ask? Books give me freedom. I get to go on exciting adventures that I would not have experienced, travel to places that would not have existed in my mind, feel incredible variations of emotions I would have never known I could feel, get to know characters that I would never have met, and learn life lessons I would never have learned otherwise. The line “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only once.” from George R.R. Martin’s A Dance With Dragons summarizes how I feel about books.
From the seven months that I’ve had this book blog, I’ve discovered a lot of books, authors, genres, and other blogs. I’ve met awesome bloggers, inspiring authors, and supportive readers. I’ve read books from genres I’ve never even thought about reading. So you see, I might not get paid from book blogging, but I’m definitely getting so much more than that.
