Book Blogger Hop: Mail Talk 4

Weeklies Book Blogger HopThe Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer at Crazy For Books in March 2010 and ended in December 2012. Billy at Rambling of a Coffee Addicted Writer didn’t want it to end and took over in February 2013, lucky for us. The hop starts every Friday and ends on Thursdays the following week with weekly prompts. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

For This Week:

“What is the highest number of books you received in one day either in the mail or from UPS or FEDEX?”

Every time I check the mail and see that notice card from Canada Post on my mailbox, I still get that giddy, butterflies-in-my-stomach feeling even after all these time. You see, I don’t receive a lot of books from the mail. I’m in Canada and most publishers/authors I deal with are from the US so shipping costs ARE expensive. There are even times when I don’t get any in a week or so. And I don’t know why but I RARELY win those Rafflecopter giveaways or Facebook flash/event giveaways. I can count on my one hand how many times I’ve won something, ha ha! Poor, poor little ol’ me. *hint hint* Yes, I’m trying to make you – whoever you are – feel sorry for me and send books my way.

Kidding aside, most of the books I get in the mail are either bought by yours truly, given by someone I know, or occasionally sent by publishers/authors for review. Luckily, I’ve had that one oh-my-god-I’m-the-happiest-girl-in-the-whole-wide-world mail day when a couple of books I’ve won from the Dreamy December Days Read-a-thon namely Splintered (Splintered #1) and Unhinged (Splintered #2) both SIGNED by A.G. Howard in hardcover (uh huh, that’s right I’m one very lucky girl!), a book that was a late – but still very much appreciated – Christmas gift Soul Screamers Vol. 3 (Soul Screamers #5, #5.5, and #6) by Rachel Vincent, and three hardcover books from my Chapters order (not a book-crazed shoppaholic here…just needed a minimum of $25 spent to get free shipping and they were all on SALE) Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #1) by Laini Taylor, The Gathering (Darkness Rising #1) by Kelley Armstrong, and one of my all-time favorite books Every Day by David Levithan 12558285

To answer the question of the week, the most I’ve received in the mail in one day is 6. That’s pretty sad compared to some people but I truly felt like I was the luckiest girl in the world that day. It made my whole week.

UPDATE from last week’s post: I bought a bookshelf that was on sale from Walmart for $29.97. Woo hoo, what a deal! I would have bought two since it was an awesome deal but it would not have fit in my tiny compact car. The back seat was filled with groceries already and my trunk could only fit one since my subs take up a lot of space. I assembled it as soon as I came home and neatly stacked my towers of books on the floor by my couch.

For The Readers: How about you- what’s you number? How do you feel when you get a package in the mail and you know there’s a big chance it could be books? Post the link to your own Book Blogger Hop for this week or just share your thoughts below.

That is a GORGEOUS bookcase. Wow!!

I get excited when I see books in my mailbox or on the front porch. 🙂 I have cut back, though. So many to read already. 🙂

Stop by for giveaways on my blog if you haven’t stopped yet.

    Happy Hopping!!

I love the bookcase. Yep, books in the mail get me excited as well. If I order a book now, than I always have it posted to my work address, because firstly its easier to deliver there and also I think it’s always brilliant to receive nice post at work rather than boring work related reports and files. And I’m in your club – I’ve actually never won anything. Saying this, I gave up entering after a while, so that’s a pre-requisite for winning I think. 🙂

Ha ha! I haven’t stopped entering but still haven’t won that much. Sad, but true. 😛
