Loonie for Thoughts include my thoughts on topics regarding books and/or book blogs in general. You probably already know the name came from the phrase “a penny for your thoughts”. The penny here in Canada was discontinued in Feb. 4, 2013 hence the use of loonie, the Canadian one-dollar coin, instead.
I’ve been following a number of blogs since before I started my own book blog last year. I’ve been subscribed to daily email updates from a few favorite blogs and weekly email updates from the rest. I always start my day by reading the posts from my favorite blogs I’ve signed up for daily updates. It’s an awesome way to start the day, in my opinion. As for the weekly email updates, I dedicate a few hours on Saturdays to read and browse through posts.
The thing is…I rarely let the blogs I follow feel my presence. I very rarely comment, almost never participate in events, and almost never join giveaways. I used to feel like I’ve got nothing important to say so might as well not say anything. I recently just started realizing how stupid that thought was. So what if I’ve got nothing important to say? I have my own opinions, reactions, and comments most of the time whenever I read blog posts. Why, oh why, did I ever think those weren’t important!
Being a blogger myself, I’ve come to realize how even the tiniest little comment of appreciation goes a long way. It boosts the blogger’s confidence, sparks new ideas for blog posts, andencourages them to post more and more content. Most bloggers don’t get any sort of compensation from blogging, yet they still do it just because they love it. Why not show them how much I appreciate their effort and all the work they put into composing heir posts?
With that said, I’m finally coming out of my cave! I have no reason to keep hiding in my cave and staying in the shadows of the blogging community. I love my fellow bloggers and I’m going to show them just how much I appreaciate their posts and what I have to say. I encourage all the stealthy followers hiding in their caves to come out and start letting your favorite bloggers know what you think about their posts! Thank them for all the effort and work they put into their posts and events. Let them know you’re there, religiously reading their posts. It might even be the start of the awesomest (if that’s even a word) friendship you’ve ever had! *wink wink*
